L&T Construction bags contracts for water projects in India

L&T Construction, the construction unit of Indian technology, engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services conglomerate L&T, has been awarded EPC contracts in India.

The firm has secured an EPC contract from the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation-WRD for the Gunjawani project piped distribution network, including the Narayanpur Lift Irrigation Scheme, in Pune.

Under the terms of the contract, L&T’s Water & Effluent Treatment Business will be responsible for survey, investigation, design, procurement, construction of gravity mains, installation of pumping system, rising main line/branch lines/automated outlet management system (OMS) at every 24 hectare-chak/distribution network up to 3 hectare-subchak.

Additionally, the company will prepare the relevant documents to form a Water User Association, as per the MMISSF Act 2005 for the command area, to build the capacity of farmers to attain maximum crop yield.

L&T also won a contract from the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Department to execute two individual rural piped water supply projects in Jharsuguda district in the Indian state of Odisha.

The scope of work includes design and construction of two intake structures, two water treatment plants, 1,745km of transmission and distribution pipelines, 58 overhead service reservoirs, nine booster pumping stations and associated electromechanical and instrumentation works.

The company’s Water & Effluent Treatment Business also secured an EPC contract from the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board (TWAD), as part of the Coimbatore underground sewerage system (UGSS) project, for the construction of 30.53m litres per day (MLD) sewage treatment plant (STP).

Recently, L&T Oman’s Buildings and Factories Business was selected by Eagle Hills for the main works contract of The Mandarin Oriental Hotel and the residences at the Mandarin Oriental, Muscat.

L&T will be responsible for the overall construction within the site, which includes a 150-key hotel and 156 units of branded residences, as well as 1,622m² of retail areas, podium and basement as well as the associated external works, services, and hard and soft landscaping works.
