Australia-based Lendlease has been selected as the preferred design and construct contractor to deliver the new Western Sydney Stadium in New South Wales, Australia.
The $300M project is being delivered on behalf of Infrastructure NSW.
It will include the development of a new rectangular stadium with all 30,000 seats under a roof cover, plus an additional standing area that can accommodate 1,000 people.
Lendlease will work in partnership with architect Populous and engineering consultant Aurecon to deliver the project.
Lendlease’s managing director of building Dale Connor said: “I’m incredibly proud that we will be building this significant sporting facility for Western Sydney.
“This project is an opportunity for us to continue our legacy in the delivery of important public and sporting infrastructure, including the original Parramatta Stadium in 1986, but also to continue our commitment to enhance Greater Western Sydney’s prosperity.
“Lendlease believes the transformative projects occurring in Western Sydney, in particular the Parramatta CBD, will make it a truly vibrant and global city.
“This project will give us the opportunity to play a part in the creation of new jobs and increased economic opportunities for local residents and businesses. We look forward to delivering this wonderful new facility for the NSW Government.”
Construction work is set to begin in 2017 and is expected to be complete in 2019.
