KB Home offers smart home system with in-built Google Assistant

US-based KB Home has partnered with Google to launch ‘KB Smart Home System’ that features Google Assistant to help make living easier, more efficient and more enjoyable for new KB homeowners.

Initially, KB Homes will implement the partnership with Google at select KB Home communities, where customers can experience the advanced connectivity and integrated technology features of the KB Smart Home System.

The new system can integrate an expanding selection of compatible devices and features, which will be available in select KB Home Design Studios.

Using the KB Smart Home System, powered by Google Assistant, KB homeowners can perform several tasks, including controlling the functionality of their smart home features and automating routines to their individual preferences.

The KB Smart Home System will be included in new home sales in Denver, Colorado; Las Vegas, Nevada; Jacksonville, Florida; and Orange County, California.

The system’s components will also be available as options to KB homebuyers at the KB Home Design Studios in these markets.

KB Home and Google intend to launch the KB Smart Home System across the country, based on consumer response.

The KB Smart Home System has been designed to accommodate additional emerging technologies when they are launched.

The components include Google Wifi ‘mesh’ network for strong and secure signal throughout the home; two smart speakers, including a Google Home, and a Google Home Mini, with voice control and automation by Google Assistant; and Nest Hello Video Doorbell.

To personalise their new KB homes, customers can choose various options, including connected appliances, light controls, motorised window shades, and door locks.

DISH Smart Home Services personnel will install and integrate all devices after the home buyer moves in.

KB Home chairman, president and CEO Jeffrey Mezger said: “With just spoken commands to a smart speaker or the touch of a button on their smartphone, KB homeowners will be able to control smart devices such as their thermostats and check who is at the front door.”
