A joint venture of Seymour Whyte and Fulton Hogan has secured a $442M design and build contract for the Caloundra Road to Sunshine Motorway section of the Bruce Highway upgrade in Queensland, Australia.

The project will include the widening of the highway to six lanes, and major upgrades to interchanges at each end of the project.

Seymour Whyte managing director and CEO John Kirkwood said: “This is a significant contract that supports our strategic plan to continue diversifying into major design and construct projects.

“We look forward to working collaboratively with the Department of Transport and Main Roads, Fulton Hogan, other partners and local communities to deliver an innovative design with quality execution on this important project.”

Construction work is expected to begin in mid-2017, and be complete in 2020.
