Irish construction firm John Sisk & Son has secured a contract from Moda Living for the construction of a 42-storey skyscraper in Birmingham, UK.

Upon completion, the £184m project will convert the site of the former Click Club at Burberries into one of Birmingham’s tallest buildings and helps to regenerate the Broad Street area.

The 481-apartment scheme has been designed exclusively for rent, and to provide hotel level service to the customers. It will feature a whole host of on-site amenities, including a 200m podium running track.

Construction on the project is slated to begin in April 2019, and is expected to be completed in 2022.

The project will feature a range of apartment sizes from studios to three-beds, in addition to a host of amenity spaces spread across the building.

The Broad Street site includes a 60,000ft² podium with more than 30,000ft² of dedicated communal space that consists of residents lounge, dedicated health and wellness zones and co-working space.

The site also includes an indoor/outdoor dining club, which features a demonstration kitchen and a range of ground floor commercial space.

According to Moda, a 24-hour hotel-style concierge and a round-the-clock maintenance will help raise the bar for renters locally.

MyModa app serves as a key and enables residents to manage their tenancies and daily life within the building.

The skyscraper also includes the digital wellness platform that will help track and improve the health and fitness of residents.

Moda Living managing director Tony Brooks said: “Birmingham is a key city for Moda – as the UK’s fastest growing regional city and the number one city to relocate to from London. Our aim is to provide high quality housing to match the city’s ambition and growth.

“Not only will this be a landmark building, it will also help raise the bar for rental in the city, offering unrivalled amenities and putting residents in control – offering flexible and long-term contracts.”

Backed by Apache Capital Partners, Moda is a developer, owner and operator of homes for rent and has a £2bn development pipeline of 7,000 apartments across 10 UK cities.
