Australian construction firm John Holland has secured a contract to refurbish the St Andrew’s Ipswich Private Hospital in Queensland, Australia.

The contract, worth AUD45m, involves the revamp of key areas within the existing hospital for Ramsay Health Care. The project will create space for 90 new beds.

John Holland CEO Joe Barr said: “John Holland has significant experience in hospital developments, including Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital and Lismore Base Hospital.

“The provision of premium levels of service to the health sector is at the core of our vision for our business.”

John Holland building manager QLD/NT, Colin Matthews, said this new work represents a continuation of John Holland’s long standing relationship with Ramsay.

“We have been delivering projects for Ramsay since the early 2000s, and are pleased to be involved in the creation of this first class and highly functional medical facility, which will cater to the health care needs of one of South-East Queensland’s fastest growing regions,” he said.

Work on the project has already begun, with overall project completion scheduled for 2018.
