Interxion to build new data centres in Frankfurt and Marseille

Interxion Holding, a provider of carrier and cloud-neutral co-location data centre services, is set to build new data centres in Frankfurt (FRA15) and Marseille (MRS3).

The Frankfurt data centre will be built in four phases, providing in aggregate 9,600m² of equipped space and 19MW of customer available power when fully built out.

Phase one of FRA15, which is expected to provide approximately 2,300m², is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2020. The total investment associated with FRA15 is expected to be approximately €175m.

The Marseille facility (MRS3) will be built in three phases, delivering approximately 7,100m² of equipped space and 17MW of customer available power when fully built out.

Scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2019, the first phase of MRS3 is expected to provide nearly 2,300m². The capital expenditure associated with MRS3 is expected to be about €140m.

Interxion CEO David Ruberg said: “Interxion Frankfurt is the leading cloud and connectivity hub in Germany with over 20 cloud deployments from the leading global cloud platforms and 235 network service providers present.

“Similarly, Interxion Marseille already has over 130 network service providers present and is now established as a primary gateway for submarine cable connectivity between Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa with 13 cables currently active and additional cables due to become operational before the end of 2019.

“Strong demand from global customers is driving our growth in each of Frankfurt and Marseille as they seek to benefit from the highly-developed communities of interest that we have created in these markets.”
