Higgins Construction has been appointed as contractor by residential property group A2Dominion for its £40m housing project on Bath Road in Hounslow, London.

Located on the site of a derelict Morrisons, the project will include the construction of 176 homes along with a new food store covering an area of 8,000ft2.

The homes will be built in three blocks and are expected to reach as high as seven floors. They have been designed to incorporate residential, outdoor and retail space and a play area.

Higgins managing director Steve Leakey said: “This is an important partnership for Higgins, we are delighted to be working with A2Dominion again following our successful Geron Way project.

“The brand new scheme at Bath Road will help provide much needed homes for local people, with 93 of them being shared ownership and 83 rented and it will also bring new life to a site that has been derelict for some time. We look forward to starting construction works in the next few weeks.”

A2Dominion technical & commercial director Steven Waite said: “We look forward to working with Higgins to transform this derelict site to provide high-quality and genuinely affordable homes for local people, as well as new retail space.”

The planning scheme was designed by Colwyn Foulkes & Partners and the delivery architect will be Fourpoint Architects.

Earlier this month, Higgins started working on site for Notting Hill Genesis, to design and build a 14-storey residential block at Woolwich Reach E16.

The project will include the construction of 75 affordable homes, which will be a mix of one-, two- and three- bedroom apartments. Of the total housing units, 28 will be London Living Rent homes and 47 shared ownership, and commercial space overlooking the River Thames and next to Royal Victoria Gardens.

The project will include large communal spaces and will feature landscaped residents’ podium deck with car parking beneath and new offsite public viewing platform with views over the river.
