American construction and real estate development company Gilbane Development has announced the launch of five new student housing projects across the country.
All buildings are expected to begin operations in 2020, apart from Octave at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which is scheduled for occupancy in 2019.
These projects will together offer 3,500 beds and are valued at more than $400m.
Residents will have access to modern amenities, including swimming pools, fitness centres, clubhouses, and computer labs.
All communities will offer fully furnished units, featuring bed and bath parity, high-speed internet, diverse options and activities for physical and mental fitness and wellness, personal and group study areas.
The student housing developments include Octave, Alor, Sierra, Towson Row and Bixby.
Located two blocks from The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), Octave will be a two-building, 538-bed complex located at 210 South Fourth Street in Champaign. It will open for student occupancy in 2019.
Alor, located near Arizona State University’s Tempe campus, will be a three-building, 946-bed purpose-built student housing and 64 units of market rate/workforce housing, development. It will feature 12,000ft² of retail and a structured parking garage along with amenities such as two pool areas – a rooftop swimming pool with panoramic views and a courtyard swimming pool.
Additional amenities will include a 25,000ft² rooftop amenity deck and sky lounge, a 6,000ft² open-air fitness centre with cardio, full weights, and fitness/yoga centre, outdoor courtyards with fire pits, cabanas, spa, central clubhouse, 24-hour study lounges, game rooms and computer lab.
Sierra, a 228-unit building adjacent to the southeast corner of Oregon State University’s campus in Corvallis, Oregon, will feature amenities such as a heated pool, clubhouse, fitness centre, game room, group study rooms, structured parking, a garage and three courtyards.
Towson Row will be located near the Towson University campus as part of Towson Row, a $350m mixed-use development with more than one million ft² of retail, hotel, residential and office space in Towson, Maryland.
The company will deliver 720 beds of student housing at Towson Row. Amenities will include clubroom, fitness centre, computer lounge, study rooms, game room, and two elevated courtyards, which collectively include a swimming pool, grilling area and other outdoor amenities such as fire pits and hammock pergolas.
Bixby, another student community, will be located at Kennesaw State University (KSU) in Kennesaw, Georgia, and is scheduled to be opened in 2020.
It will offer 656 beds, a structured parking garage, and approximately 3,000ft² of retail, and amenities such as a heated saltwater swimming pool and rooftop skydeck overlooking the KSU football stadium.
