Galliford Try wins Coventry student halls contract in UK

Galliford Try’s Building East Midlands business has won a £52m contract from the Elite Group to build a 922-bed student accommodation facility at Paradise Street in Coventry.

Under the terms of the contract, Galliford will build new halls across three blocks of 3, 12 and 14 storeys on the site of a former garage near the city centre, with an additional two low-rise house blocks.

Additionally, the company will develop further landscaping, including a recreational area for the students as well as office and maintenance facilities for the proposed management company AXO Student Living.

The student complex has been designed by Fraser Brown MacKenna whereas the building service has been designed by Waterman.

Galliford Try East Midlands managing director Jon Marston said: “We are delighted to have won this contract and continue to build on our strong reputation as a contractor both within Coventry and in the student accommodation sector.
