British regeneration company Galliford Try Partnerships has been selected to build the first 725 homes at Enfield Council’s £6bn Meridian Water scheme in north London, UK.

Enfield Council has shortlisted four bids for the scheme following a tender round. Galliford Try was one of the four shortlisted bidders with others being L&Q, Peabody and Redrow.

Planned to be completed by 2022, the new homes will include a significant number of affordable homes and will be complemented by new public squares, shops and leisure facilities.

The first homes are planned to be delivered around the new Meridian Water train station, which is scheduled to be operational in 2019.

Preparation work commenced in 2017 on the first new homes and the new train station, which are part of phase 1 of the 20-year Enfield Council-led London regeneration programme, Meridian Water.

Enfield Council leader Cllr Nesil Caliskan said: “I see Meridian Water as an extension of the local community and I am confident that Galliford Try will deliver a scheme that will benefit local people and the community first and foremost and in addition, will provide affordable homes and quality jobs in Enfield.”

The Meridian Water development will deliver 10,000 homes and 6,000 jobs, alongside public spaces, community facilities and road and rail networks.

Galliford Try Partnerships CEO Stephen Teagle said: “We are delighted to have been selected to work in close partnership with Enfield Council and the local communities on the delivery of Meridian One as a new, vibrant mixed-use, mixed tenure neighbourhood.

“We will provide high quality affordable homes, opportunities for local start-up businesses to flourish and great public spaces.

“It’s a great opportunity to demonstrate responsible and accountable regeneration through a responsible, accountable partnership.”

Enfield Council is also looking for a developer for phase two development of the scheme at Leeside Road.
