Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust unveils plans for £90m hospital

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust has announced plans for a new £90m hospital for Ascot.

The new hospital, if approved, will replace the Heatherwood Hospital. The proposed hospital will feature six operating theatres, 40 inpatient beds, private patient spaces as well as day care and endoscopy facilities. It will also feature upgraded diagnostic and outpatient services and room for a primary care hub. The hospital’s woodland setting would offer added benefit to recovering patients, the trust said.

The trust said the existing building was unaffordable to maintain and did not adhere to modern standards.

The project includes the sale of land for housing that would be used for financing a part of the redevelopment.

The trust said that “its plans are the only realistic way of securing fantastic hospital services in Ascot for future generations”.
