
A consortium led by Ferrovial Agroman has won an $855M contract to build a section of the Grand Parkway toll road in Texas, US.
The contract was awarded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to the consortium comprising Ferrovial, Webber and Granite Construction.
Under the contract, the team will design and build segments H&I of the State Highway 99 ring road (also known as Grand Parkway), northeast of the Greater Houston area.
The scope of the project will include the construction of an 85km section of highway spanning Chambers, Harris, Liberty and Montgomery counties. It will increase the capacity of the segment by up to two lanes in each direction between the US 59 and I-10 and by four lanes between the I-10 and SH 146.
Construction of new lanes and the modernisation of the tolling infrastructure on SH 99 between I-10 and FM 1405 is likely to be concluded in six years.
In addition, 74 new bridges will be built as part of the project, and more than 7.5M cb m of earth will be moved.
TxDOT will manage the project.
