The Enfield Council is seeking civil engineering contractor to deliver £135m worth of infrastructure work for the £6bn Meridian Water regeneration scheme in Lea Valley in north London, UK.

The five-year contract will include delivery of enabling infrastructure including the roads, bridges and utility services required for the 10,000 homes that are planned for the site.

Enfield Council leader Nesil Caliskan said: “Our Meridian Water programme is going to provide thousands of homes and jobs in Edmonton and we want a partner to help deliver the first phase of the strategic infrastructure which will help to make our vision a reality.

“These critical works will underpin the delivery of the entire project and the procurement of partner(s) to deliver this work demonstrates once again that Enfield Council is making Meridian Water a reality and the public sector is ready, willing and able to deliver successful large-scale construction projects in a way that truly benefits residents.”

The selected contractor will also be responsible for the demolition, construction, earth and remediation works. It will have a role in design development.

Recently, British regeneration company Galliford Try Partnerships was selected by Enfield Council to build the first 725 homes at the Meridian Water scheme.

The Meridian Water development will deliver 10,000 homes and 6,000 jobs, alongside public spaces, community facilities and road and rail networks.

The first phase of the Meridian One scheme involves development of first 725 homes and retail space at Willoughby Lane. The first homes are planned to be delivered around the new Meridian Water train station, which is scheduled to be operational in 2019.

Planned to be completed by 2022, the new homes will include a significant number of affordable homes and will be complemented by new public squares, shops and leisure facilities.

Enfield Council is also looking for new developer for Meridian Two, at Leeside Road. The scheme aims to deliver about 250 homes with workspace on the lower floors.
