Construction services firm EllisDon has secured a $70.9M contract from Seneca College and Infrastructure Ontario to design, build and finance Seneca College’s King Campus expansion.
EllisDon Corporation will serve as the developer, while EllisDon Design Build will provide construction services for the project in Ontario, Canada.
The 19,000sq m expansion project will include 25 new classrooms, computer and specialty labs, a library, and learning commons.
It will also feature a new student area with a multi-purpose athletic and recreation space, a gymnasium, a fitness centre, informal study areas and event spaces.
Designed by MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects and Montgomery Sisam Architects, the project will target LEED Gold in the Canada Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) rating system.
The project is set to be complete in spring 2018 — when the project’s payment will be made by the Province and Seneca College to ensure the development was delivered on time and on budget.
Upon completion, the King Campus will provide teaching and learning opportunities for approximately 5,000 full-time students.
