Duro Felguera secures $217.2m contract for Dubai power station

Spanish firm Duro Felguera has bagged an AED798m ($217.2m) contract from Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) for the third phase of K-Station at Jebel Ali Power Station.

Scope of work includes supply, installation, testing as well as launch of two F-type gas turbines from Siemens. The turbines, expected to operate from the second quarter of 2019, will generate 590MW at 50 degrees centigrade.

K-Station incorporates advanced technologies and control systems, including modern technologies to reduce emissions. The station’s existing generation capacity is 948MW, which will be increased to 1,538 MW following completion of phase three. DEWA’s total installed capacity will reach 11,990MW post project completion in 2019.
