The Dow Chemical Company is set to construct a new $100m innovation centre at the heritage Dow Corning corporate campus in Michigan, US.
Located near the company’s Midland, Michigan headquarters, the new research and development (R&D) facility will accommodate about 200 research and development employees.
The new facility will include lab and office space. It will focus on silicone science and organic chemistry to explore future technologies.
The Dow Chemical Company chairman and CEO Andrew Liveris said: “This is a monumental day for Dow, our employees and for Michigan as it marks another tremendous milestone in our company’s more than 120 year history.
“This world-class facility could have been located anywhere and we chose to invest right here in Michigan because both the U.S. and the state have a growing and vibrant research, development and manufacturing sector creating new opportunities every day.”
Meanwhile, the company opened its global headquarters building in Midland, an 184,000 sq ft building that will host almost 470 employees and contractors.
