Damac Properties has awarded an AED72m ($19.6m) construction contract to China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) for major road and infrastructure work at Akoya Oxygen development in Dubai.

With the latest contract, Damac’s total construction expenditure on the 55 million ft² community spend has increased to more than AED5.6bn ($1.52bn) since its inception.

Damac expects to begin deliveries at the end of 2018.

Damac Properties general manager of operations Ali Sajwani said: “This latest contract award to CSCEC will see major road and infrastructure work being carried out at three clusters within Akoya Oxygen, providing access and services to support 1,623 villas.

“We are pleased to further strengthen our relationship with CSCEC, as we accelerate development in almost every part of our largest master community which will start to welcome its first residents at the end of 2018.”

CSCEC will take up major work at Victoria, Avencia and Amargo clusters, which comprise 1,623 villas.

Damac awarded a contract to Arabtec to build 916 villas at Akoya Oxygen in March 2018. In August 2017, Arabtec was also chosen to build 1,296 villas.

Located off the Umm Suqeim Road extension, Akoya Oxygen features homes made up of energy-efficient materials and controls and systems, amidst a green setting.

Along with an 18-hole golf course, Akoya Oxygen will also offer modern amenities such as luxury shopping arcades, five-star hotel and suites, organic market, mosques, clinics, schools, nurseries, and restaurants.

In May 2018, Damac had also confirmed the completion of the raft foundation work for Tower B at Aykon City, a multi-tower master development in Dubai.

Located on Sheikh Zayed Road, the four-million ft² multi-tower development will offer residents the convenience of an entire city within its complex.

Offering views of the Dubai Canal, Aykon City will be home to Aykon Plaza, an entertainment and lifestyle hub for the community, which includes swimming pools, spa, beach club, cafes, restaurants, yoga and tai-chi areas.

It will also offer a residents-only private recreation space called The Club.

The project, on the eastern and western sides of Sheikh Zayed road at the Safa Park intersection, will comprise residences, serviced apartments, a hotel and an office space.
