Contract signed for San Diego light rail project

Mid-Coast Transit Constructor joint venture has won a $922M contract from the San Diego Association of Governments (SANDAG) to build the Mid-Coast Trolley in San Diego, US.

The 18.5km project, set to extend the existing service from the Old Town Transit Center to the University City community, will include the construction of nine stations.

The new service will improve direct public access to regional activity centres and enhance travel options to employment, education, medical, and retail centres for commuters, and tourists.

Construction work is already in progress. The project is scheduled to be complete by 2021.

The Mid-Coast Transit Constructor JV comprises Stacy and Witbeck, Herzog and Skanska.
