Construction starts on new $132m BMO Tower in US

BMO Harris Bank and real estate developer Irgens have broken ground on a 25-story office building known as the BMO Harris Financial Center in downtown Milwaukee in Wisconsin, US.

The building, which will entail an investment of $132m, will include 360,000 sq ft of new office space as well as parking lot for 647 cars. Construction work on the project is expected to be completed by December 2019. Once completed, BMO Harris Bank will lease 124,000 sq ft of space. Michael Best & Friedrich, a law firm, will lease 59,000 sq ft of space spread across two-and-a-half floors at the top of the new tower. The remaining space will be provided on rent.

Designed by Milwaukee-based Kahler Slater, BMO Tower will also feature a fitness centre, a conference centre and other amenities for tenants. The project was originally announced in December last year by BMO Harris Bank and development firm Irgens.

BMO Harris Bank president and CEO David Casper said: “Milwaukee represents a critically important market for us. This new tower - which will add to the beauty of Milwaukee's skyline - exemplifies our commitment to the city, and to the state of Wisconsin.

“2017 marks BMO's bicentennial - two centuries serving the needs of our customers and helping businesses grow - and we're thrilled to mark this significant milestone in our own history with a major investment in the economic development of Milwaukee."
