China Everbright Water has won the Nanning Shuitang River Integrated Restoration Public-Private Partnership in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in China.
Nanning Jianning Water Investment Group and Everbright Water will set up a project company that will conduct survey, design, investment, finance, and operations of the project, to help treat black and odorous water bodies in the city.
Everbright Water will own a 78.99% shareholding in the proposed company.
The scope of the RMB1.46bn ($223.7m) contract comprises river training, river interception engineering, sponge city construction, river ecological restoration, environmental landscaping and information management works within the planned red line area at the Shuitang River.
The project also features the construction and operation of a waste water treatment plant, which will have a treatment capacity of 40,000 tonnes per day. The project has a concession period of 22 years.
Everbright Water executive director and CEO An Xuesong said: “Nanning PPP Project is Everbright Water's first project in Guangxi, marking a breakthrough in the Southern region of China.
“It has also created good momentum for the company's business expansion in the second half of 2017. The project will extend Everbright Water's brand influence to Nanning City and the surrounding areas, as well as to other markets in the Southern region of China."
