American conglomerate Cherokee Nation Businesses (CNB) and planning, sales and hospitality company Legends have unveiled plans for a resort destination called Legends Resort & Casino Arkansas, in Pope County.

The companies said that the name, Legends Resort & Casino Arkansas, has been inspired by the definition of a Legend, and the project has been developed keeping in mind the needs of the community.

They said that the venues and diverse entertainment choices will create a perfect setting for guests to feel and be legendary, and customers will also enjoy a celebration of Arkansas’ legendary figures in sports, music and entertainment; cuisine; and the landscape of The Natural State.

Cherokee Nation Businesses CEO Shawn Slaton said: “Since submitting our initial application to the Arkansas State Racing Commission in May, we have remained fully committed to the people of Pope County and to taking our proposed development to the next level.

“Today, with much excitement, we are pleased to unveil our plans. We’ve embraced the community’s feedback and are confident this resort destination brings something for everyone.”

Legends Resort & Casino Arkansas, designed by HKS Architects, will showcase architecture influenced by the distinctive landscape of the Arkansas River Valley.

The project will be established in Russellville, Arkansas, on 130 acres north of Interstate 40 along Nob Hill Road, between Weir Road and Alaskan Trail. The project is expected to be completed in 18 months.

The $225m (£186m) Legends Resort & Casino Arkansas is expected to bring world-class entertainment to the region by featuring modern amenities centred around relaxed luxury.

The project will include approximately 50,000ft² of gaming space accommodating 1,200 slot machines and 32 table games; sportsbook within a high-end sports bar; luxury hotel with 200 rooms, resort-style pool, spa and fitness centre; and 15,000ft² of mixed-use conference and entertainment space for 1,000 people.

Legends Resort & Casino Arkansas will also feature a variety of food and beverage options, including a food hall, high-end steakhouse, ‘grab and go’ concept and multiple bar and nightlife options; RV park with 100 spots; outdoor water park; and outdoor music venue for gathering and entertainment.

The project is expected to create more than 1,000 direct jobs.

Legends global planning president Bill Rhoda said: “From the onset, our goal in partnering with CNB has been to create a resort that truly offers something for everyone and provides an unmatched guest experience.

“Most importantly, Legends Resort & Casino Arkansas will create a positive economic impact of benefit to Pope County and the state of Arkansas.”
