Brookfield Multiplex has completed construction on Walker Corporation’s $300m Tower Two at the Collins Square development in Melbourne’s Central Business District (CBD).
The 38-storey Tower Two office complex represents Brookfield’s second building in the Collins Square development. The company also completed the $205m 25-level Tower One in 2013.
The $2.5bn Collins Square development includes five inter-connected commercial office towers offering a combined total of 185,000 sq m net lettable area. The towers are connected through an integrated podium three levels above ground. The development is anticipated to be fully completed in mid-2018.
The construction of Tower Two involved 39,500 cubic metres of concrete, as well as 3,800 tonnes of reinforcement and 518 tonnes of post-tensioned concrete. The tower’s curtain wall design façade was built using 38,000 sq m of high-performance low-e (low-emissivity) glass.
The development has received a 5 Star Green Star Design and is aiming for an As Built v3 Rating as well as a NABERS Energy 5 Star rating. The project created about 620 jobs during its construction period.
Brookfield Multiplex regional managing director of Victoria Graham Cottam said: “We are delighted to have delivered the second stage of Collins Square. This project responds to the demand for brand new premium-grade commercial space in Melbourne CBD and its design continues the laneway character of the surrounding streetscapes.
“Our team applied its extensive experience in delivering complex high rise towers in the CBD environment to this project.”
Brookfield Multiplex is also currently building Tower Four of the Collins Square development, a $180m mixed-use tower. Tower Four is set to be completed in August 2016.
