Broccolini breaks ground on 58-storey residential tower in Montreal, Canada

Canadian developer and builder Broccolini has broken ground on 58-storey Victoria sur le Parc, which is set to become the tallest residential tower in Montreal.

The project will also include 10 floors of office space, including a commercial ground floor, and will be constructed in Montreals Quartier International. Work is expected to be completed in 2023.

Along with the 628 Saint-Jacques, also being developed by Broccolini, and the new National Bank headquarters located at 800 Saint-Jacques Street, for which Broccolini is the general contractor, Victoria sur le Parc represents a total investment of around C$1.3bn (approximately $967m) in the neighbourhood.

Designed by IBI and Béïque Legault Thuot, the residential tower is destined to become a ‘vertical village’. It will be bordered by a park, which will be designed by landscape architect Claude Cormier.

The park will link the new building to the new National Bank headquarters, which will be located at the Saint-Jacques Street and Robert-Bourassa Boulevard intersection.

Since the launch of sales in last October, more than 300 residential units, representing 75% of the available units, have been sold.

Broccolini COO Anthony Broccolini said: “The speed at which the available units sold shows once again just how much buyers trust Broccolini’s expertise.”

The company is developing and building several major projects, including the new Maison de Radio-Canada in Montreal and the new Amazon distribution centre in Ottawa.

Saint-Jacques district councillor and City of Montreal executive committee head of economic and commercial development, housing and design Robert Beaudry said: “The arrival of this distinctive building will truly consolidate and energize this key area of the Business District.

“The project will optimize land use in the Ville-Marie borough through densification and by creating a new park that will benefit the entire population.”

The Canadian company provides planning, construction and property management services for industrial, commercial, institutional and residential buildings.

Currently, Broccolini’s real estate management subsidiary manages a portfolio of over 40 properties, representing more than six million ft² of assets.
