Royal Boskalis Westminster (Boskalis) along with its joint venture partner Van Oord has won a €110M dredging contract for the capital and maintenance dredging of the port of Santos [pictured] in Brazil.

The order for the largest port of South America has been placed by The Brazilian Ministry of Transport, Ports and Civil Aviation.

According to Boskalis, studies for the project will be undertaken in the coming months and the design of the navigation channels and berths of the port will be reviewed in the near future.

Subsequent dredging operations are anticipated to begin in 2017 with the deployment of various trailing suction hopper dredgers and a backhoe dredger.

The dredging activities are expected to be completed in 2018.
