Avera Health is planning to build a new health campus in southwest Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as part of an £174M investment.

To be the largest building project in Sioux Falls’ history, the Avera on Louise Health Campus will be constructed on an 82-acre site at the intersection of 69th Street and Louise Avenue.

Te first phase of the new campus project will include the construction of a 24-bed surgical hospital, which will specialise in orthopaedics and sports medicine, gastroenterology, internal medicine and rheumatology, and a connected medical office building.

The design and construction team includes BWBR Architects, St. Paul, Minn.; Journey Construction, Sioux Falls; and Garrett Peters, AIA, Avera McKennan.

Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center regional president and CEO, Dave Kapaska, said: “This bold, transformative campus is part of a broad and unified development plan to meet the rapidly growing needs of Sioux Falls and the region.

“This is an unflinching example of the unified, strategic effort Avera is making to enhance health services in the region by providing greater and easier access to convenient, high-end health services like orthopaedics and gastroenterology.”

Construction is likely to commence in autumn 2017, with the campus scheduled to open in early 2020. The project will create more than 600 construction jobs in the region.
