Astaldi, in a joint venture with Reliance Infrastructure, has won an EPC contract from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to build the Versova-Bandra sea link in Mumbai, India.
The total value of the works to be carried out equals €780m, in which Astaldi’s share will be €390m.
For the Versova-Bandra sea link project, Astaldi will leverage the experience gained with the building of the Western High-Speed Diameter in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
The new infrastructure, to be situated about 900-1,800m from the coast of the city of Mumbai, will involve the construction of complex works at sea and stretch for a length of approximately 17.7km, linking Versova and Bandra.
The main bridge will include the construction of a cable-stayed bridge and three bridges of variable section, with a main span of 100m.
The works will last 60 months, with start-up shortly planned. Maintenance activities for two years are also planned.
The works will be financed with state funds.
Recently, three lots of Line 4 of the Mumbai Metro were awarded. The total value of the works is €168m (INR13.5bn) in which Astaldi has a share of €84m.
The Mumbai Metro Rail Project works pertain to the design and development of approximately 20km of railway viaduct and 18 stations, all in elevation, as part of the project linking Wadala district in the centre of Mumbai with Thane district.
The works are subdivided into three lots: Wadala-Chembur section (Package 8, 6.4km of viaduct, six stations and two interconnections); Gandhinagar Junction-Bhandup Sonapur section (Package 10, 6.7km of viaduct, six stations); and Kapurbawdi-Kasarvadavali (Thane) section (Package 12, 6.8km of viaduct, six stations).
Work is planned to be executed over a period of 30 months. These works will be financed with state funds.
Metro Line 4 from Wadala to Kasarvadavali is a 32.32km elevated corridor with 32 stations.
This line will provide interconnectivity among the existing Eastern Express Roadway, Central Railway, Mono Rail, the ongoing Metro Line 2B (DN Nagar to Mandale), and the proposed Metro Line 5 (Thane to Kalyan), Metro Line 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar to Vikhroli) and Metro Line 8 (Wadala to General Post Office).
