Astaldi JV wins hospital construction contract in Italy

Astaldi, as part of a joint venture, has been awarded a €73m contract by Azienda Sanitaria Locale della Provincia di Bari, the local health concern of the Province of Bari, for the construction of the New Southeast Bari Area Hospital (Nuovo Ospedale del Sud-Est Barese) at Monopoli-Fasano in Italy.

Ataldi will have a 70% share in the contract.

The construction contract includes civil works and systems required for a new healthcare facility in the Region of Puglia.

The healthcare facility will provide 299 beds and nine operating rooms over a total floor space of 178,000m2.

The three-year contract is expected to be signed after verification of the prerequisites for taking part in the tender.

Furthermore, a €397m contract was signed with Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane Group on 18 December 2017 for the construction of the Naples-Cancello Lot of the new Naples-Bari High-Speed Railway in Italy.

The agreement was signed, marking the beginning of the activities.

Astaldi will have a 40% share in the contract.

On 22 December 2017, the Inter-ministerial Economic Programming Committee (CIPE) of the Italian government approved the final design of the Functional Lot 1, Verona-Vicenza Junction, of the Verona-Vicenza-Padua High-Speed / High-Capacity Line, and authorised the start of the works for the first construction lot.

The approval specifies the conditions for signing the supplementary document for the contract, and for the commencement of work site activities by the first half of 2018.

At present, the contract results to be entered in the group’s orders backlog are worth more than €900m (Astaldi’s share).

So far, the 2017 new orders total €3.1bn.
