Developer Ashfield Land has received approval for a £150M mixed-use development in Blackdog, Aberdeen.

The approved proposals include a cinema, a hotel, retail outlets, and leisure and business facilities. A key element of the project is a regional food hall, which will showcase local produce from farms and producers across the North East under one roof.

Steven McGarva from Ashfield Land said: “We’re looking forward to turning the plans into reality and would like to thank the council officers and elected members for their support.

“It will deliver substantial benefits for people living in Aberdeenshire and beyond and give local people access to leisure, retail and business facilities that have been sorely lacking in this area.”

The project will be delivered in phases over the next five to ten years and is expected to result in the creation of thousands of jobs. Construction work is expected to start later in 2017.

Last month, Kirkwood Homes secured the go-ahead for housing on the same site.
