US-based engineering company HOK and architecture, landscape architecture, interior design and urban planning corporation Arquitectonica have developed plans for a Major League Soccer Stadium (MLS) and a mixed-use complex for Inter Miami CF in Miami, Florida.

The new 26,000-seat MLS stadium features a curvilinear facade, ample public plazas, embedded technology and connects to the adjacent 58-acre public park.

The project, covering 131acres for the construction of Miami Freedom Park and Soccer Village development, will be centred on the stadium.

Major League Soccer Stadium will have a bowl-style stadium design with seating around its interior, along with big screens in each corner.

Tiered stands along the length of the pitch will make way for a large, single-tier stand at one end and internal concourses at the other.

Screens built on the exterior façade can be used for events or to show games to people outside the ground.

The stadium features hospitality sections on all sides of the pitch and a terracing is built up into the stadium’s roofline.

The proposed development also includes a variety of additional leisure and commercial elements.

The development includes the construction of hotels, technology offices, entertainment, restaurants, retail, parking spaces, soccer fields and a golf entertainment facility.

The project also includes a public park and 11 football fields for community use.

Expected to be completed by 2022, the City of Miami gave its approval to the development in 2018.

Earlier in 2019, Skanska USA and HOK completed the $154m expansion and renovation of Tampa International Airport’s main terminal in the US.

The upgraded terminal will improve the passenger experience, improve wayfinding and expand concession options for travellers.

The design-build team of the two companies has redeveloped the main terminal and concessions programme, which is part of the first phase of the airport’s master plan expansion. Construction commenced in 2014.
