Abertis wins 30-year motorway concession in Brazil

Abertis, through its Brazilian subsidiary Arteris, has secured the concession for the management of the Rodovias dos Calçados (Itaparonga-Franca) for a 30-year period until 2047.

The awarding process has been concluded for BRL1,212M (approx. €350M), in real terms, to be paid after the contract signature, and a second payment of BRL225M (approx. €65M) to be paid after the release of the current Autovias concession.

The awarded package includes a 317km segment of highway managed by Autovias (Sao Carlos-Araraquara corridor), whose concession was set to end next year, and a 403km section that was under direct management of the government of the Sao Paulo state. In total, they sum up 720km.

As per terms of the contract, approximately BRL5,000M (approx. €1.5bn) will be invested on motorways development including the expansion of the current asset capacity by the duplication of over 275km.
