$135M Malaysia port works contract awarded

Muhibbah Viccana JV, an entity in which Muhibbah Engineering has a 51% equity interest, has secured a MYR584.8M ($135M) contract to build a wharf, jetty and other associated facilities at Bintulu Port [pictured] in Sarawak, Malaysia.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Muhibbah said that the contract has been awarded by Bintulu Port Authority.

As per the terms of the contract, Muhibbah Viccana JV will undertake the design and build work for the development of supply base wharf and associated works in the Second Harbour Basin of Bintulu Port.

The company said: “The contract is expected to contribute positively to the earnings and net assets of Muhibbah Group for the current and future financial years.”

Work on the project will commence immediately, with completion expected by the end of 2019.
