Bouygues said in a statement: “A distinctive feature of the earthworks operations will be use of the ‘top-down’ technique, which will entail simultaneously carrying out substructure works on four basement levels and superstructure works on 12 levels.

“The works will be carried out in particularly cramped conditions, particularly owing to the proximity of the Boulevard Rainier III above ground and the ‘Dorsale tunnel’, with which the project will connect.”

Work has already commenced on the project in June 2020. It expected to create 200 jobs at peak during the construction phase. The project is planned to be completed in 2023.

In May 2020, Bouygues was selected by Westminster City Council to design and build the first phase of the new Ebury Bridge Estate in the UK.

The Ebury Bridge Estate will include nearly 758 energy-efficient homes, of which 386 will be affordable housing units.
