Westminster City Council is seeking bids from potential construction firms to design and build the £97m first phase of the renewal of Ebury Bridge housing estate located in the South-West of the borough, close to Victoria Station in the UK.

The Ebury Bridge Estate renewal project, for which the contract notice has been published by the council, is being carried out in two phases with the first phase estimated to cost £97m.

The first phase of the £350m project involves construction of 216 new homes.

The city council said that the renewal project will set a new standard for regeneration in Central London.

Westminster City Council cabinet member for finance, property and regeneration Rachael Robathan said: “As a City for All we’re committed to the most ambitious house building programme for a generation. The renewal of Ebury Bridge Estate is a top priority for the council in our commitment to deliver 1,850 affordable homes over the next three years.

“It’s exciting to now look for a delivery partner who shares our vision for outstanding living spaces, so we can deliver a new estate to give our residents the chance to live and work in the city.”

In 2018, the council announced its decision to renew the estate, which will provide up to 750 high-quality homes over the next seven years.

The Ebury Bridge, which was built in 1930s, is one of Westminster’s oldest council estates.

The first phase of the project is planned to commence at the end of 2020. It will include demolition of four blocks and development of more than 200 new mixed-tenure homes and a well-designed public square by mid-2023.

Westminster Housing Investing, the council’s new wholly owned development company, will be responsible for funding, delivering and owning new intermediate rent, market rent and sale housing across the borough.
