West Lothian grants GBP41.3 million for housing projects

26 January 2010

West Lothian Council has approved GBP41.3 million ($66.89 million) housing budget at a meeting of West Lothian Council.

Executive councilor for communities, Frank Anderson commented, "The proposed increase in rent will allow the council to continue to provide excellent value to our tenants and be responsive to our customers needs. It will also put us well on the way to meeting the council’s commitment to bring all West Lothian houses up to Scottish Housing Quality Standards by 2015. "The first phase of the 248 new build council houses is nearing completion with 79 of these properties already benefiting families in West Lothian. The remainder will be completed ahead of schedule this summer. "Phase two is expected to start in the autumn and will result in approximately 550 houses and flats being built in: Whitburn, Livingston, Bathgate, Armadale, Uphall Station and Blackburn," added Councilor Anderson.
