Technip secures EPIC contract for Phase 2 of GirRI Project in Angola

France-based engineering firm Technip has secured engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPIC) contract for the phase 2 of the Girassol Resources Initiatives (GirRI) development project in Angola.

The field is located 210km offshore Angola, at a water depth of 1,300m. The contract was awarded to Technip by Total E&P Angola. The contract will covers the project management, engineering, fabrication and installation of 21km of umbilicals, 13km of interconnecting power cable between the Dalia and the Girassol floating production storage and offloading units (FPSO), which will be carried out by Technip.

The contract includes recovery and disposal of four rigid spools and the installation of eight new flexible spools. Technip Angola Engenharia, a joint venture between Technip and Sonangol, will share responsibility for the overall project management and engineering of the subsea project with Technip UK. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2014.
