REC Solar installs solar system at California State University's Fullerton campus

13 January 2012

REC Solar, a provider of home, commercial and government solar electric systems in the US, in association with AECOM Technology Corporation as the design builder for the project, completed the installation of 1.16MW solar power plant on the roofs of California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) campus.

The photovoltaic installation consisted of installation of three solar systems on the rooftops of two campus buildings, namely the Clayes Performing Arts Center and Kinesiology and Health Science Building and atop a carport of the parking structure. The solar installation is anticipated to generate 1.6 million kWh of electricity annually for the campus and is likely to annually offset more than 700 metric tons of greenhouse gas, which is equivalent to 26,422 tons of greenhouse gas emissions over a 25-year period. The solar carport system has been installed on the roof of Eastside Parking Structure on the southeast corner of campus. The car park, as a part of the project, has also received six Coulomb Technologies EV charging stations supplied by Charge Harbor LLC. The charging station is the first solar-powered stations in the CSU.
