The construction cost of Sukhi Kenari hydel project is estimated at $1.14 billion The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has approved the environmental impact assessment report of the project while submission of performance guarantee by the sponsors is under process and is expected to be completed shortly. Private Power Infrastructure Board (PPIB) issued a letter of intent to SK Hydro (Private) Limited for the project in November 2005. In November 2007, the feasibility study of the project was completed and submitted to PPIB which was reviewed and approved in March 2008. As the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was in court of law on certain constitutional issues, the project was held up since January 2009.
