NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises has unveiled plans to build its new global headquarters in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
The new 450,000 sq ft headquarters will be spread out on about 21 acres at NW 25th Street and the Florida Turnpike. NBCUniversal and its parent company Comcast will invest over $250m in the project.
The built-to-suit facility will consolidate the division’s offices, broadcast and production operations under one roof including the Telemundo Network, Telemundo Studios and Telemundo International, its cable network NBC Universo and its digital media operations.
The headquarters will serve as a modern television production facility, incorporating latest production technology, and will also be energy efficient.
It will have the capacity to initially accommodate 1,100 employees, with an option to expand the capacity to about 1,300 eventually.
The project will create about 3,000 construction jobs.
NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and NBCUniversal International Group chairman Cesar Conde said: "Our new global headquarters will fold all of our division’s offices and production studio spaces into one state-of-the-art facility that will help us do business in a more collaborative way.
"This significant investment clearly underscores once again NBCUniversal’s and Comcast’s long term commitment to our business and the US Hispanic market."
