Morgan Ashurst lands Loughborough University student accommodation contract

1 February 2010

Morgan Ashurst has started work on a GBP2.8 million ($4.46 million) contract for Loughborough University to refurbish two student accommodation towers.

It is the firm’s seventh job for the university. The company is working on the locally-listed towers student accommodation complex, which features a 17-story tower and a 20-story tower, linked by a central access block. The two towers comprise 310 bedrooms over a total of 37 stories. Morgan Ashurst is carrying out a full internal refurbishment, installing new mechanical and electrical systems, providing new bathrooms, replacing floor finishes and furniture and re-decorating. With only four lifts servicing the towers, Morgan Ashurst is working to a tight program of sequencing and deliveries. All residents of the Towers complex are staying in the village court student rooms on campus until work is completed in June 2010.
