Morgan Sindall completes $28 million University of Sussex development
6 August 2012UK-based construction company Morgan Sindall has completed work on a £17.8 million ($27.6 million) development for the University of Sussex.
The development, which replaces the Russell Building and Arts D and E blocks, includes a 500-seat lecture theatre, both general and specialist teaching rooms, academic and support space, and social and café facilities.
It will be the new location for the university's School of Business, Management & Economics. The 8,000 square metres development is the ninth project the company has completed for the university's Falmer campus, and includes a number of sustainable features, such as a sedum roof and rainwater harvesting systems.
Morgan Sindall employed around 50 local contractors during the development, with up to 200 construction workers working on site at the project's peak.
Previously, Morgan Sindall constructed the Fulton Building, a three-storey teaching block, including lecture theatres and seminar rooms, at the university.
