McLaughlin & Harvey has been appointed by Edinburgh Marina Holdings, the developer behind Edinburgh Marina, as the main contractor for the first phase of the development in the heart of Edinburgh’s waterfront in Scotland.
Phase one consists of the new 373-berth Edinburgh Marina with access to the sea at all tides and the new 187-bedroom Hyatt Regency Spa & Conference Hotel with 98 serviced apartments, the luxury Royal Wharf Living for Retirement residential scheme and three residential apartment blocks consisting of an additional 338 apartments.
The waterside development will offer uninterrupted views of the coastline and the Firth of Forth.
New homes will be centred around the Edinburgh Marina and Spa Hotel, making Edinburgh Marina a new destination located only two miles from the City Centre and less than eight miles from Edinburgh International Airport.
Edinburgh Marina Holdings finance director Matthew Garstang said: “We are extremely pleased to have appointed McLaughlin & Harvey as the main contractor for the first phase of the landmark Edinburgh Marina development.
“Their track record and experience will help us deliver this world-class development which will create much needed new homes, as well as unique leisure and commercial facilities for the Scottish capital.”
The build has been specifically designed to exceed the 5 Gold Anchors rating of the Yacht Harbour Association, and is expected to attract visitors from around the world.
The Edinburgh waterfront is well connected, as roads, trams and waterways will all lead into the city.
Edinburgh Marina will be the centrepiece of the new development, where a new community will be developed as a social hub for families and young professionals.
McLaughlin & Harvey managing director Philip Cheevers said: “We are delighted to be part of the delivery team for Edinburgh Marina which is one of Scotland’s most exciting new development projects.
“At McLaughlin & Harvey we pride ourselves on considerate and responsible construction, and our approach to Edinburgh Marina is no different.
“We look forward to starting on site to ensure the developer’s vision becomes reality.”
