Kier Partnership Homes to develop residential project in Derby

The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) and Derby City Council have appointed Kier Partnership Homes, an arm of UK-based construction company Kier Group, for the development of a residential scheme in Derby, UK.

Under the terms of the contract, Kier has to develop 700 new homes and a business park at the site of old Manor and Kingsway Hospital in Derby. The development also include affordable housing units. The initial plan calls for contemporary houses, which will have simple design concept that will be based on the mill heritage of Derby as well as its existing architectural influences. The development will feature landscaped gardens including the tree-lined crescent. The northern part of the scheme will feature a large area of open space for leisure and ecology. The 10-year project is schedule to commence in the third quarter of 2012. The project is anticipated to create about 450 jobs in the region.
