Jianghuai Automobile to construct first overseas plant in Vietnam

Hefei-based auto producer Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Co. Ltd, (JAC) is planning to construct its first overseas plant in Vietnam, to produce trucks.

The plant, as a joint venture with Vietnamese partners, will mainly produce medium- and light-duty trucks. Construction of the plant is a part of the company's overseas development plans. JAC is also drawing plans to export 15 % of its products to overseas markets by the end of China's 12th Five-Year Plan. It is believed that by the end of China’s 12th Five- Year Plan, the company's total output will rise to one million vehicles.

JAC produced 322,000 automobiles in the year 2009, but with only not more than 7% were exported to its main overseas markets in the Middle East, South America and Southeast Asia. The company is working on development projects with an aim to produce 400,000 autos in the current year.
