Inland American breaks ground on ASU's student housing and dining projects
30 January 2012Inland American Communities Group, Inc. (IAC), a development, acquisition and management company, has broken ground on the phase I of Innovation Academic Village, which will be built at the Arizona State University’s (ASU) Polytechnic Campus in Mesa, in the US state of Arizona.
The proposed project will be developed adjacent to the ASU's Student Recreation Center. The project involves development of a 85,000 square feet, three-storey student housing building. The $13.5 million building will have 318 suite-style beds that will offer space for 1,200 students. The amenities for the students at the new residential scheme include common areas with multi-purpose spaces, student lounges, various study and collaboration areas and a full use kitchen. The facility is fully integrated with ASU’s on-campus data and cable TV infrastructure. The company will also develop a new $8 million, 20,000 square feet dining facility, which will have a seating capacity of 350. The facility will also have a coffee shop, grocery/convenience store and a student oriented multimedia lounge called Devils’ Den. The general contractor for the project is CORE Construction and Wood, Patel & Associates is the civil engineers for the scheme. The development has been designed by RSP Architects. Both housing and the dining facilities are scheduled for opening in August 2012.
