Gratenau Holz to distribute Kebony products in Germany
21 July 2011Germany-based timber products company Gratenau Holz has been appointed by the Norway-based wood modification firm Kebony as an exclusive distributor in Germany.
Pursuant to the agreement, Gratenau is responsible to provide decking and substructures as well as cladding made out of Kebony wood. Gratenau's products will be sold to wood merchants with warehouses. Gratenau has signed the long-term partnership agreement, which would initially cover three years. Gratenau aims to sell approximately 1,000 to 1,500 cubic meters of Kebony products each year from 2012 onwards. The main raw material used in Kebony-wood production is Scots pine and southern yellow pine (SYP) free of knots from certified forests, as reported by EUWID Wood Products and Panels. Kebony operates a plant with a capacity to produce 25,000 cubic metres per year in the Norwegian town of Skien. Kebony has gradually expanded its international distribution network in 2010 by entering into sales partnerships in the UK, Sweden, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Italy.
