Freeman Webb’s new headquarters in Tennessee wins Green Apple Award

8 July 2010

Full-service real estate firm Freeman Webb’s new headquarters in Green Hills, Tennessee, designed by Hastings Architecture Associates, has been awarded an International Green Apple Environment Award during an awards ceremony in London.

Freeman Webb’s new HQ was the only building in the US to get this award in the ceremony.

The LEED Gold-certified office building spanning 60,000 square feet uses 25% less energy and 30% less water than similar-sized buildings. Designed by Tennesse-based Hastings Architecture Associates, the building is topped with a green roof that doubles as an outdoor patio and garden. The facility is equipped with energy-efficient heating and air conditioning systems and sensors that turn off lights automatically. The use of recycled materials for construction, and preferred parking spaces for carpoolers and drivers of hybrid vehicles are some other eco-friendly features.

The International Green Apple Environment Awards is an annual international campaign to recognize, reward and promote environmental best practices around the world. It is promoted by UK-based Green Organisation, an independent environment group dedicated to promoting the positive side of environmental endeavor. The HQ was one among the 500 worldwide nominations considered for the award.
