Foster Wheeler lands Sasol’s wax expansion project in South Africa
Published: 17-Mar-2010
Global Engineering and Construction Group, a subsidiary of Switzerland-based Foster Wheeler AG, has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCm) contract by Sasol for its Fischer-Tropsch Wax Expansion Project, to be located at Sasolburg, South Africa.
The Foster Wheeler contract value for this project was not disclosed and will be included in the company's first-quarter 2010 bookings.
The wax expansion project, which is expected to double Fischer-Tropsch hard wax production at Sasolburg, will be managed from Foster Wheeler's full-service execution center in Midrand, near Johannesburg. It will also involve its Singapore office.
The scope of work includes detailed engineering and procurement on behalf of the client, as well as project and construction management. Foster Wheeler completed the front-end engineering design in the fourth quarter of 2009 and has subsequently been assisting Sasol in early EPCm activities.
Completion of the project is scheduled for 2012.
