ECf to begin work on new marina berthing facility in UK

10 August 2012

English Cities Fund (ECf) has announced plans to begin construction on King Point Marina, a new marina berthing facility in Millbay, Plymouth, UK.

The King Point Marina will feature 171 berths that will be developed approximately 1.5 miles to the west of the existing 5 Gold Anchor Sutton Harbour Marina, which is a scheme by Sutton Harbour Holdings.

King Point Marina will provide sheltered berths for five to 25m long vessels. Additionally, the company will also develop a two-storey building, which will be complete with showers, toilets and amenity areas for berth holders on the ground floor. The building will be enclosed by timber decked terraces that will offer direct access to the marina pontoons.

The first floor of the facility will offer about 165 square metres space, which will be available for usages as a waterfront yacht club restaurant or marine related businesses. The facility will have terraces overlooking the Millbay and Plymouth.

Construction is due to commence in the third quarter of 2012 with completion anticipated for the 2013/ 2014 boating season. Construction and operation of the marina will be undertaken by Sutton Harbour Group.

The project forms part of ECf's transformation of 20 acres of existing Plymouth dockside into a new waterfront city quarter. ECf is a partnership organization, which consist of Muse Developments, Legal & General and the Homes & Communities Agency.
