Dow Chemical to build its first full-scale production plant at Michigan

Dow Chemical will build its first full-scale production facility for its Powerhouse Solar Shingle in Midland, Michigan.
The project will create more than 1,200 jobs in the next four years. The Michigan Economic Development Corporation is currently considering up to $140 million in economic incentives for the plant, which would produce the photovoltaic solar panels in the form of solar shingles that can be integrated into rooftops with standard asphalt shingle materials.
The Dow Chemical Company is US Multinational Corporation headquartered in Midland, Michigan. Dow Chemical is a provider of plastics, chemicals, and agricultural products with presence in more than 175 countries and employing 46,000 people worldwide. The company was founded in 1897 by Canadian-born chemist Herbert Henry Dow, who had invented a new method of extracting the bromine that was trapped underground in brine at Midland, Michigan.
